“The future belongs to those who believe
in the beauty of their dreams.”

– Eleanor Roosevelt

Dear Friends,

.

At St. Joseph High School, we redefine education every day. Our dedicated faculty and staff are fully committed to our mission and believe in the important work of educating young women and transforming lives. In an ordinary day, SJHS achieves extraordinary results.

.

Our graduates are accepted into the finest colleges and universities, while rising SAT scores and GPAs open new doors for generous scholarships. Our Career Access Program prepares students for success in their chosen professions, while our values-based education challenges our students to make moral decisions that will affect their own lives and the world around them. We are confident that SJHS students are inspired to learn, and SJHS graduates are prepared to be the global leaders of tomorrow.

.

Whether performing complex mathematical equations, learning about women’s history or performing in a dance or dramatic production, SJHS students discover their strength, find their voice and leave an indelible mark on their world. Welcome to St. Joseph High School.

.

Blessings,

.

– S. Joan Gallagher

S. Joan, the principal of St. Joseph High School since 2007, believes that we need to transform educational institutions from knowledge factories into wisdom schools.  Before coming to SJHS, S. Joan served at St. Francis of Assisi School in Brooklyn as a teacher and then as assistant principal.

.

S. Joan lives in the community of Providence House providing hospitality to women and children in need of transitional housing.  It is through her day-to-day life that S. Joan has come to know that works of charity and justice go hand in hand.

.

A graduate of Adelphi University, S. Joan received her master’s degree from Brooklyn College and her professional degree from Fordham University.

.

In 2013, St. Francis College honored her with the degree of Doctor of Humane Letters, honoris causa in recognition of her extraordinary leadership in Catholic education.
