Why is St Joseph High School closing?

Declining enrollment and increasing expenses have reached a point where operation of the
school beyond the 2019-20 school year is no longer viable. This was a very painful decision,
made only after a thorough review of future financial requirements and a feasibility study of
scenarios for continued operation.

How will SJHS assist current students?

We are hopeful many of our currently enrolled SJHS students will want to continue with us for
the 2019-20 school year, and take that time to explore other Catholic school environments
where they can finish their high school education.
We have begun outreach efforts to nearby Catholic schools to inform them of our closing and
to coordinate and facilitate student transfers.
We will host an informational meeting for St Joseph students and their families. Please check
your email for further details.

What does this mean for incoming freshmen?

Incoming freshmen have the option of entering in the fall, and working with us to identify
transfer options after the 2019-20 year, or they may apply to other schools for acceptance.
Deposits received for any incoming 9 th grade student who notifies us prior to August 31, 2019
will be promptly refunded.

Will scholarships be honored at new schools?

The school and Sisters are reaching out to the many sponsors of our scholarship programs to
ask that their generosity follow our award recipients to their new schools..
