On Saturday, March 16th, we held our annual Alumnae Luncheon. During the event, hosted by National Honor Society students, members of the Accounting class sold SJHS branded products, and attendees were treated to a musical performance by a student ensemble. Junior Kadija Soumaoro was awarded the Mary Elizabeth  Vansevicius  Guagliardo ’76 Scholarship, established by her husband John Guagliardo for a deserving young woman who embodies an outgoing personality like that his wife Mary possessed.
At the luncheon, we introduced our new Mentorship Program, a wonderful way in which alumnae and other friends of St. Joseph High School can become more involved in the lives of our students. Mentors help their mentees through various life experiences and challenges. They are an irreplaceable part of our students’ lives, providing professional insight, academic advice, and personal support as they journey into adulthood. Research confirms that quality mentoring relationships have positive effects on young people in a variety of personal, academic, and professional situations.
If you are interested in becoming involved in our Mentorship Program, contact Mrs. Caitlin Black in our Development Office, 718-624-3618 ext.30.
